Gutierrez (D-IL) and Flake (R-AZ) have introduced a bi-partisan comprehensive immigration reform bill, the STRIVE Act (Security Through Regularized Immigration and a Vibrant Economy) of 2007 in the U.S. House of Representatives.  As Frank Sharry, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, said: "No bill is perfect, and after studying the language carefully, we expect we will take issue with specific provisions. Dec 2006 - Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and Senator Ed Kennedy (D-MA) together with Representative Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) have met this month to begin working on a bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill.  It will seek to better protect our borders, reunify long-separated families, supply industry with willing workers, and allow people who have long contributed to America's prosperity to legitimize their status given they pay a fine, back taxes, maintain steady employment, pass a background check, and enroll in English classes.
